River to River News & Info January 5, 2012 We are almost through with our deer season, there
are a few guys coming out next week to bow hunt the last week, but other
than that we are done. It was our best year yet, every year keeps getting
better and better! Next year should be even better from what bucks we
have seen that made it through. We are booking up fast for next year,
some weeks are already booked up so if you are interested please give
me a call and we can get your dates booked. December 14th We are through our late muzzleloader season, we
seen a bunch of deer and many bucks. We missed a big 9 pt and had chances
to kill a good 30s buck but they let it walk. We only had two guys hunting
bucks. We saw many bucks that will be very good deer next year and some
that will be just absolute giants! Book you spot early so that you will
be able to get the dates that you want. We take a very limited number
of hunters each year! December 5th We are through our second gun season; we killed
3 bucks and missed 3 more. We killed a 145 inch 9pt a 135 inch 8pt and
a 133 inch 8pt. We had some opportunities to shoot a couple more too,
so all in all, it was a good second gun season. The second gun was actually
better than the first gun season, like it has been the last 2 years. We
have one more weekend of late muzzleloader season and we are done gun
hunting. So far the season has been very good, with a lot of big deer
that were killed and many more that have been seen still running around.
Nov 13th-21st. The first 3 days of this hunt were unbelievable,
we killed a 202", a 173", and a 135", the bucks were chasin’
and the biggins were on the feet! As fast as it started it stopped, the
next few days we did see some biggins but now kills and they didn't move
near as good. The gun season was about the same with high winds and hot
weather it did not seem that the deer moved very good at all. We did kill
a 176" 12pt and a 128" 8pt. We had a few more shots that we
should have killed 3 more bucks but they didn't move very good. The second
gun season starts Dec. 1st and it should be good, we will let you know
how it goes. Nov 6th-11th Oct.25th-29th Oct. 19th-24th Oct 7th-10th 10/6/2011 Thank you, 9/13/2011 We are getting close to the start of the season,
all the stands are up, the fall food plots are in and the bean food plots
look good but all of them need rain! But things are looking good, we are
seein some giants and look forward to another great season. Check out
some of the pictures that we got on trail cams, we got more out so we
should be adding more trail cam pictures in a week or so. We have a few
bowhunts available yet, and you can still get a bowtag. So anyone who
wants to book a last minute whitetail archery hunt you still can. We look
forward to seein everyone in the fall ! 7/24/2011 7/8/2011 6/1/2011 Starting June 1st until June 30th you need to
put in for you bow tag. Go to www.dnr.state.il.us and select nonresident
bow tags. If anyone has any questions please call me. 4/17/2011 Two combo hunts just came available for 6 days of bowhunting and the first gun hunt. This is an unbelievable hunt with a very good chance of killing 2 good bucks. This hunt is usually booked a year in advance but I had a couple cancelations. I will sell them first come first serve! Get them while you can! Thank
you 4/11/2011 We still have
a few hunts still available. We have 5 spots open for the first and second
week of November, these hunts are rut bow hunts. It doesn't get any better
than this, these hunts are really good hunts that will get filled. I also
have 2 spots open for the second gun season and 4 spots open for the late
muzzleloader hunt, we have killed some of our biggest deer the later gun
seasons. These hunts are really good hunts and really good priced. Book
your trophy hunt today, you will love what we have to offer and the hunting
is awesome! 2/14/2011 We are through the eastern sports and outdoor
show; I want to thank everyone that stopped by to talk and to book a hunt.
I still have 4 spots open for the second gun hunt and 6 spots open for
the late muzzleloader season. The second gun and the late muzzleloader
hunts are really good hunts sometimes even better than the first gun hunt
because of the breaks from hunting before them. This year we killed a
173 the second gun season chasin does at 12:30. We also got a few spots
open for the first and second weeks of November open, these are really
good prerut to rut bow hunts. Give me a call and book your 2011 hunt while
I still have openings! 2/6/2011 We are up at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show
in Harrisburg which ends on Sunday February 13th. We will be offering
a "Show Special" Thank you 1/29/2011 We are almost done with our hunting season, the
duck season ends Sunday. We have had a great year. We were 47% kill and
75% pull the trigger on shooter bucks on our Illinois deer hunts and we
are close and will probably go over 1000 ducks out of our 1 guided pit.
We have all the same land for next year already leased and next year we
will have 2 different pits to do our fully guided duck hunts out of and
3 more pits we will lease. We are booking up fast for next year for both,
deer and duck hunts. We have some really good hunts available, so get
your hunt booked so that you get the dates that you want. We are heading
out to the Eastern Sports show next weekend so stop by and book a hunt
or just to talk. Want to thank everyone who hunted with us this year and
hope to see everyone next year. 1/4/2011 Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy
New year. We are almost done with our deer hunts, we got a few guys in
now bow hunting late season. We are seeing many deer and alot of bucks,
some shooters and many that will be good shooters next season. We are
booking up many dates now so if you are interested in booking with us
give me a call and we can get something booked up before the dates you
want are sold out. Remember we don't take many hunters per week, this
is how our success rates are so high. 12/23/2010 We have been hammerin' the ducks in Arkansas!
This last week we killed out- every one, everyday and some days we had
10 guys. In 7 days we killed 300 ducks in 1 pit with 2 days in 2 pits.
It has been unbelievable! We still have openings for some dates this season
and the season goes till the end of January. 12/6/2010 We are through the second gun season. We had 4
guys hunting and we killed 2 bucks, one was a 173 2/8 inch main frame
9pt it was a really good deer. Most of our hunts are over we have a few
more guys hunting the late season but as of now we are real close to 50%
kill and we are over 75% pull the trigger. This is based on how many hunters
we have had and how many deer and shots we have had. It has been a really
good year and we are still seeing many bucks. We should kill a couple
in the late season. We are booking hunts for next year and we are already
booked up for some dates so if you want to book please give me a call
and we can get your hunt booked. We will be at the Harrisburg show in
February, but I would not wait to book until then because hunts are going
fast and we don't take many hunters. 11/30/2010 I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
We are through our first gun season and we killed
6 bucks. It was slow for the first gun season; they did not move at all.
We did kill six and shot 10 times wounding 2 and missing 2. The full moon
must have stopped much of the day time movement. Although it was slow,
we could have killed 10 bucks, but the first gun season was average at
best. We will look forward to the second gun season since it seems like
the rut is just getting going and the rut should be in full swing..... 11/15/2010 We are at the last week before gun season and
the bucks are up and moving really good. In the last 4 days we have
shot 8 times and killed 4. It should be a great week and an unbelievable
gun season by the looks of things. We look forward to seeing everyone
that is coming out to hunt with us. 11/12/2010 It is Nov 11th, we just got through our second week of November, it was hot and for the most part bucks were not moving very good. We did have quite a few opportunities the first 3 days but we did not take any shots. The second to last night the bucks were chasing does good and we seen many shooters. The last day was just the same, we shot at 4 different bucks and we killed 2 good bucks. They are really starting to chase good and the weather is getting ready to really cool down so it should get really good. Look forward to seeing everyone that is coming to hunt with us this fall. Chris Shores 11/4/2010 It is Nov. 4th and we just had 6 hunters in camp.
It was ok at best and the rut action was slow. We did kill a 156 inch
buck and hit another big 8pt very low, that we were unable to find. I
don't think that he was hurt very bad at all. The temps look good for
the next 10 days so the rut should really get goin and we should have
some really good hunts coming ahead. Look forward to seeing everyone and
if you have any questions please call me anytime. 11/1/2010 October is over, it was pretty slow with the exception
of the first week. We killed 5 shooters in october with 9 shots. It was
pretty hot and windy for most of the month. It is cooling down now and
the temps are good so the biggens should get goin any day. Not a whole
lot of chasing goin on yet but that can all change in a day. The forcast
looks great for the next 2 weeks so we should put some biggens on the
ground. I still have openings for the second gun season and you can still
get a tag. If anyone is interested call me as soon as ya can and I will
tell ya how to get a tag. Look forward to seeing everyone that is coming
out. 10/20/2010 We are through our second week and it was really slow, the temps really rose and the bucks did not move. We had highs in the 90s and upper 80s and although we seen deer, the biggens didn’t get up until after dark. We don't have anyone during this full moon week, The forecast looks a little better for our next hunts. Once we get this full moon out and the temps drop, we should really kill some giants. We look forward to seeing everyone that is coming this year, it looks good! Thank you 10/08/2010
Thank you
We are looking forward to seeing everyone and we’ll keep you updated as the season opens up. Thank you,
7/15/2010 I have sent out all the gun applications for everyone to complete and send back in to the state. The last day they will be accepted is August 16th. I have openings for the second gun for anyone who is interested and you have until August 16th to book that hunt. Also, they have leftover bow tags that will be going on salel August 3rd at 8:00 central standard time. I still have some bowhunts available for anyone who is interested. I have all the bean food plots in and they are coming up good. I have been seeing many really good bucks and have seen more bucks this year then I have in a long time. So things are looking good and I can't wait for hunting season to get here. Hope everyone is having a great summer and see you in the fall. Thank you
5/28/2010 Also we still have some rut and nonrut bow hunts still available. We also have some second gun hunts still available to anyone who is interested. Thinks are looking really good, the bucks are starting to get their racks and they are coming along really good. With all the land we have had for 3 years and all the great new land that we picked up this will not be a year that you will want to miss. All the corn got in the ground almost a month before it did last year so it should be out early. We will kill some absolute giants this year. Hope everyone is doing good and I will see you in the fall. Thank you
Anyone who has already reserved their spot for this season, you will be getting a letter describing how and when you will get your tags. This spring is really moving fast and we will be buying our permits next month! Look forward to my letter in your mailbox. Thanks, 02/16/2010 The hunting season is over and I just got back from the Eastern Sports Show. I have never seen so much snow in my life! I want to thank everyone who stopped by and talked. If anyone has any questions please, e-mail or call me anytime. I still have some rut and nonrut bow hunts available but they are booking up. I also have some gun hunts left. Things are looking good for next year we signed up some great new land and still got everything that we had the previous hunting seasons. We look forward to hearing from you! Thank you 01/11/2010 We are down to our last 4 days of bow season,
we have 3 hunters hunting now and hopefully we will be able to get a couple
bucks these last few days. Anyone who is interested in duck hunting, it
is going to thaw out and get warm, that means the duck hunting will be
hot this weekend until the end of the season. The season goes till the
last day of January, I have some open dates for this year so give me a
call and come down and kill yourself some ducks; it will be good. I am
also booking for next season’s deer hunts, we still have alot of
openings but some are filling up quickly. There are many gaints that made
it through this season, with many young deer going to be mature next year.
It should be a very good year. The weather can not be any worse than it
was this year. Thank you
Thank you 11/24/2009 We are through our first gun season, and temperatures were high like most of the rut, we killed 4 bucks and missed a few more. The biggest buck taken was Dennis Fisher's 140 6/8 inch 8pt. The weather is cooling down and they are getting all of the corn out, so the second gun season should be a good one. Also anyone who is wanting to come back and bow hunt the late season give me a call and let me know what dates you will be coming. If you have not hunted with us you can still get a tag for this year and come out, the late season should be really good with them just getting most of the corn out. I am starting to book for next season and some hunts are already getting full, so if you have your dates in mind please give me a call and we can get it booked for you. Thank you
It is the first of November and the bucks are starting to chase, we finally got it to stop raining and the temperature has cooled way down. These next couple weeks should be awesome. We killed a 162" main frame 8pt with kickers all over it last Tuesday, besides that buck, the week was pretty slow; with the hot weather and down pouring rain the deer movement was not so good. We are looking forward to the next few weeks, last night we saw a couple giants so hopefully we will get their picture on the site soon. Look forward to seeing everyone that is coming in this year. Thank you, 10/21/2009 We are through the third week of hunting season but, we did not have any hunters this week. We did kill a 135 6/8 inch 9pt last week. The prerut is starting up and they should be getting the corn out if it will ever stop raining. We have been seeing some really big deer, so we are excited about the hunts for the weeks ahead. We look forward to seeing everyone that will be coming out; make sure you bring your rubber boots because it is wet! If you will be coming out hunting and have any questions about items you may need to bring with you, please call and ask. We'll be waiting for your call.............. Thank you, 10/9/2009 It is the 9th of October and it has been raining for 2 days straight. We have had 6 to 7 inches of rain, but it is pushing out of here tonight and it is supposed to get cold. So these next few days should be very good. We have been seeing many good bucks and a couple giants. The first week we killed one 8 pt and missed an absolute giant, with a couple more opportunities. Things are looking good, the bucks are here we just need it to quit raining so they can get all of the crops out of the fields. We are looking forward to seeing everyone that is coming out this year, you will be in for a good hunt. Anyone that still wants to hunt this season, I have a few hunt openings available and you can still get a bow tag, call me at 217-491-3456 and I will let you know what needs to be done to get you out here hunting. Thank you, 9/30/2009 Bow season is upon us and things are looking good.

the acorns and food plots. Thank you,

spots open on a first come first serve basis. This is a Thank you
We are through our 08-09 hunting season, duck season in Arkansas just ended the 25th. We had a really good year, both deer hunting and duck hunting. In the deer hunting we ended up killing 14 bucks over 125" gross, with Pete Meleason's 161" buck being the biggest taken this year. We also shot 25 more times at trophy bucks, so we had over a 70% pull the trigger shot rate at trophy bucks. We are booking for the 2009-2010 deer season now. We still have many open rut and non-rut bow dates open and we still have some gun hunts open, so if anyone is interested please call me at 217-491-3456. We also did very well with our first season of
duck hunting in Arkansas, we ended up killing over 400 ducks and we did
not get to hunt but half the duck season and many times, that we did hunt,
only one pit out of five was being hunted. We are also booking for next
duck season now; we have daily hunts available at $150 per person, or
we are leasing out 2 pits for someone to be able to hunt anytime that
they want. We will be getting all of our deer stands down as soon as this weather gets better and start looking for sheds. In a few months we will start on our food plots, we are going to plant alot of corn and beans this year and leave them standing. This will make our farms that much better. If anyone has any questions with anything or would
like to book a hunt please call Thank you 12/23/2008 We are through all of our gun seasons and now we are late season bow hunting. We just killed a 130 2/8 in 7pt on Dec. 19th, it was really only a 6 pt with the 7th point only being an inch long. This was a really good deer, we are seeing many good deer right now. Late season bowhunting is some of the best hunting all year. If anyone still has a tag and would like to come out it is a very cheep hunt with good success. This year was our best year for shots at trophy bucks. We had 54 hunters and we shot 39 times at trophy bucks, that is pulling the trigger 39 times, with many more opportunities. That is over a 70% pull the trigger shot rate. That is not saying that 39 different hunters shot, a couple hunters shot a couple times. We did end up killing 14 trophy bucks, the biggest one so far is a 161. We are booking up for next year so if anyone is interested please give me a call so that we can get you the dates that you are looking for. Also we are running duck hunts in Northeast Arkansas, and it is getting really good. Anyone looking to duck hunt please give me a call, we have many openings for this year still, the season runs to January 25th. You can get you hunting licences at the Wal-mart in Jonesboro and you will be ready to hunt. To contact me anytime my number is: 217-491-3456 Merry Christmas to everyone & Have a Happy New Year. Thank you
This past weekend was our first gun season, we had 11 hunters and we killed 6 bucks 125 plus, the biggest being a 161 3/8. We seen a few deer over 180 but not as many as we know that are out there. The big ones seemed not to move good this first gun season, the week before gun season bow hunting we seen many deer 170 plus but in gun season they seemed to be locked up. That just means that there are still many big ones out there. We also killed a 143 10pt Nov 20th with a bow. We have had 44 hunters so far this season and we have shot 34 times at shooter bucks and we have killed 12 of them. (This does not mean that 34 hunters shot, a few hunters shot more than once, but this is still a very good success rate on hunters pulling the trigger at shooter bucks). We don't have any hunters until the second gun season, I will let you know how that goes. I will be getting the pictures up of the bucks that we have killed very soon. Thanks, 11/14/2008 It's November 14th and we are seeing many big
bucks. We killed a 147" 10 pt November 8th and we shot & missed
at least once a day every day since. We had 37 hunters so far and we have
killed 5 shooter Thank you 11/08/2008 We are through the first week of November, we had 6 hunters. The temps were record high, but we still had multible chances at shooter bucks. We did kill a 130 inch 8pt on November 6th. We also shot and missed 4 more shooter bucks over 130 and we had 4 to 5 more opportunities to shoot. The weather is getting cold and the bucks are chasing does. This week should be a good one, I will let you know how things wrap up at the end of this week. Thank you 11/4/2008 It is the 4th of November and the highs have been in the upper 70s. Although we have had these high temps over the last 2 1/2 days we have had 6 opportunities at shooters and 2 misses. All these opportunities were within 20 yards. The bucks are chasing does some early and late, it is just being in the right place when a hot doe comes by. I will let everyone know how we are doing in a few days. Thank you
We are through our third week of hunting; we have
killed 2 bucks, a 142 inch 9pt and a 130 inch 8 pt. I will get those pictures
on the website as soon as possible, the computer is broke. We have had
16 hunters; we have had 18 shot opportunities and 8 pulls of the trigger. --Chris Shores 10/21/2008 October the18th we killed our first buck, that was a 142 3/8 inch 9pt. We had hunters out last night and between 6 guys they saw 8 shooters and more deer than they could count. We also did miss a monster 8pt last night. We have had 12 opportunities , 6 shots and we have missed 5 times at trophy bucks. The bucks are really starting to move, we have a cold front coming in today so this should just help more. I will let you know how the rest of this week goes....... Chris Shores
The second week of Bow Season has passed and we had three hunters that hunted 3 1/2 days. The weather was extra warm and some bad rain moved in. We did see 8 shooters and a hunter passed up a 125"-130" but we did not kill any bucks. This week we didn't schedule any hunts on the full moon. Good news may be right around the corner, since it is supposed to cool way down by the weekend, so things should start looking better. Thank you 10/7/2008 We are through our first week of hunting; deer
movement was average at best. We did see many shooters and a few giants
but with all the crops still in the fields the deer numbers were down
a little. Chris Shores

We actually missed one that our hunter said was bigger than the 172” this same weekend. We also killed a 150 inch 10 pointer, the second gun season. So far we had 46 different hunters for the fully guided hunts including bow and gun. We have killed 13 bucks, we had a total of 13 more shots that the hunters missed, and we have had a total of 79 shot opportunities at deer 130 or better, but elected not to shoot. We had one hunter pass up a deer opening day of gun season that was over 150, but he did see a deer that was over 200 inches. If anyone is looking to book a hunt, we are booking up pretty fast we only have 2 more spots open for second gun, the first gun is full and we have some spots open for late muzzleloader. We have rut bow hunts still available, they are about half full. If you are interested please contact me at 217-491-3456 and we can book it up. You can look on the rates and dates page to see what dates we are hunting and what is open. From November 3rd through November 7th we had 9 hunters in camp and we killed 4 bucks all over 130 inches. These hunters produced 8 shots (4 misses and 4 kills). We also had 6 more oppurtunities at shooter bucks but did not shoot. This is the last week before the first gun season, the bucks are starting to chase pretty good, so check back later and see how things turn out! -- Chris Shores 11/4/2007 We are starting the first week of November and the bucks are starting to look for hot does. They are chasing a little bit, but the big bucks are on their feet. We killed a 135in 8pt Nov. 3rd and missed 2 more on that same day. One which was over 170. We have had two missed shots, one kill and 6 more oppurtunities at deer 130+ since Halloween and now it is Nov. 3rd. If you are interested in booking a 2008 hunt please
contact me at 217-491-3456. Thank you 10/25/2007 We are through the third week of bow season, and almost to the end of October. We got a 150 inch 8 pointer on the 20th of October. We did not have any hunters during this past week due to the October full moon. We are still seeing many bucks out scouting, but the weather has been pretty bad with very high winds and heavy rain. We are starting hunting again on the 27th. The bucks have started a little bit, but it is not real hot and heavy yet. This week they should really turn on through the gun season. I will let you know how things go. Thank you 10/18/2007 We are through the second week of bow season, and the second week we still had the very high temps. and alot of wind. We still managed to see alot of deer and quite a few shooter bucks. We seen 26 shooters many that were over 150 inches. With 3 of them being over 170 and one that is in the mid 180s. I can't imagine what we will see when the weather gets right. We did kill a nice 133 inch 8 pointer. I will have it on the website as soon as I can. All the 08 rates and dates are up, so pick the time that you would like to come and give me a call. Thank you 10/09/2007 Deer season has begun and we are already through
the first week. Despite having record high temperatures, we still had
some really good hunts. We had four people in camp and we seen 251 deer,
